The Nile is quite literally the lifeblood of Egypt. From Cairo to Aswan, almost everyone living in the country lives within a mile of its shores and from tourism to fishing to irrigation to, well, everything, really, it serves almost everyone from every facet of society.

As we sail up the Nile on our day and night trip on a Feluca we spot this father and his son, out to do some fishing. Although a couple of meters away across the water, we stare at each other across a vast culture casm.
