It takes a lot to impress me with architecture but I really love the Royal Library in Copenhagen. It’s modern front which sits in front of the river hides a really old, traditional red brick library at the back. The front just shines with various reflections of the river and the city. Look carefully above to see a reflection of me taking the picture.
Inside looking out there are grand views of the river in the modern section which runs over the road below but right behind me the library turned into a traditional one with book cases, little cabinets for containing… I dunno, what do they keep in those tiny little drawers in libraries – filofax cards?
And even a beautiful reading room out back.
